Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Thanks to the people at
Trees For Troops and E-Mar Acres, we have a lovely Christmas Tree in our home. I had to wait until Monday to put it up, because I needed to get a big play yard to put around it. Can’t have little people pulling down the tree. So now it is up, trimmed, and beautiful!

It is decorated mostly with ornaments we bought while in Germany, but there are
quite a few from my and my husband’s childhood.

I’ve also put up our red stars in the front window and on the back door.

Since I had the holiday decorating finished and my term paper submitted, I did get to do a little sewing yesterday. I cranked out a bunch of flannel blankets yesterday and have them listed in my Artfire shop.

In an effort to help new Artfire shops become discovered shops…. I’m going to give a hand and help out.

Check out the lovely paintings by CreativelyAwakened, who is also graciously donating 20% of December profits to The Women’s and Children’s Alliance.

Look at this pretty hand painted martini and shaker set! What pretty colors!

101 Uses for Plastic Kitty Litter Containers

This is an idea I came up with the other day to help people reuse and repurpose the containers left from buying and using kitty litter. I’ve been reusing them around my house for a while now and thought other people may like to discover ways to use theirs. Of course you would clean out any litter dust before reusing the container…. just had to say. I only had time to get 8 pictures together today.

I made a flickr set for “101 Uses for Plastic Kitty Litter Containers.” Product labels have been fuzzed out so as not to get in trouble with the kitty litter folks, or anyone else.

So Far…
#1 Bucket, I have my Christmas Tree soaking outside in one
#2 Garbage Can, mine is in the laundry room for dryer lint

#3 Salt Storage, Keep in the garage to store Winter salt, a 28
pound litter container holds 40pounds of salt.
#4 Recycle bin, great for paper, glass, plastics, and cans

#5 First Aid Kit, when camping having a dedicated container keeps our bandages etc. dry and off the ground! At home it serves as extra storage.
#6 Yarn Storage! Keep skeins and balls organized easily.

#7 Yarn Keeper. Don’t buy one of those expensive yarn keepers! Carve out a hole in the lid of your litter container and put tape round the edges to prevent snagging and you have a yarn keeper! Perfect to keep balls of yarn away from playful kitties and children.

#8 Tool Box. Since these

containers stack nicely, they are great for garage storage! Don
‘t spend your money on buying another tool box, Store those odd tools and things in litter containers
Keeping to lid on keeps critters out!
More uses for kitty litter containers coming soon!

Fabric Shopping

After a morning out, I’m now home and have new fabric washing. The trip had been a bit longer than expected. I had to go back to the fabric store because I’d been overcharged for 2 cuts of fabric that were on sale. Ugh. I need to pay closer attention when things get rung up so I don’t have to make a repeat trip back. I had a hungry child wiggling in the cart and I was just trying to get out of there. Luckily I was only at the other end of the parking lot having lunch when I noticed the error. Lesson Learned. On the up side, I have a good stock of flannels to work with now and they should keep me busy for a while. In addition to my school work. :D
